Transcriptionist II Histology

Performs transcription andediting of pathology reports and provides clerical support to the PathologyDepartment. Assists in facilitatingdelivery of healthcare services to patients of diverse ages. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Performs transcription and editing tasks such asproofreading and insertion of supplemental information into pathologyreports. Provides clerical support to the PathologyDepartment. Processes incoming and outgoing materials, email, and mail. Maintainsaccurate records, including legal and confidential files. Prepares slides, blocks and specimens forreferral testing and tracks completion and receipt of reports. Places orders in laboratory information systemas requested by pathologists. Handles incoming and outgoing telephone callsutilizing knowledge of the Pathology Department. Prepares reports, forms, presentations, and/orother material from copy or from verbal instructions. Assists with accurately posting chargesreflective of the work performed in established revenue cycle systems. Efficiently operates office equipment andmachines (i.e., personal computer, copy machine, fax, calculator, telephone,etc.). Maintains office equipment. Utilizes LEAN principles/productivity standards. MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: High school diploma or G.E.D. Strong oral communication skills. One year medical transcriptionist experience ina pathology setting preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, andprocedures and testing of laboratory pathology preferred.
